Dawson's Creek Museum
The Dawson's Creek Museum has lots of great exhibits from fashion of that time, a settler's cabin, a complete telegraph office, and lots of animals, stuffed, of course, We purchased the DVD about the building of the highway, and will loan it to anyone who wants to enjoy it. Great stop!

Mastodon
In addition to the more recent animals, there was an exhibit of some of the earlier inhabitants of the area, the mastodons. Very interesting exhibit for anyone interested in prehistoric animals.

Old Fashioned Bakery
Nancy found a bakery located in a log house right next door to the museum. We thought that we should at least try it.

Kiskatinaw River Bridge
Just a few miles from Dawson's Creek, on the "old" highway (about 2 miles off the "new" one) we saw the curved wooden Kiskatinaw River Bridge. The 531 foot long timber bridge is the only bridge built along the original Alaska Highway still being used today.

Kiskatinaw River Bridge
Note the wooden surface of the bridge, as well as, us being on the bridge. Joe got out and took a picture hoping that no one came while we were stopped. (And, in spite of, the sign that said..."NO STOPPING ON BRIDGE")

Tonight we are staying at Fort Nelson, BC.
We are just getting into the Rocky Mountains, and can see them in the distance. The hills are getting steeper as are the downgrades. At one point we were following semi's at 15 mph up the grade. Unfortunately, the road is two lanes. Fortunately, we aren't on a schedule! Still about 700 miles just to Alaskan border.
