Wilderness RV Park
Leaving the Lynchberg Wilderness RV Park, we continue our journey. The Park was interesting as it was a work in progress...very slow progress. We haven't figured out how to find RV Parks, but this one had the basics and our RV has the rest! So the journey continues...

Jack Daniels Distillery
Many years ago, we stopped at the Jack Daniels Distillery in Lynchberg, TN. It was updated in 2000, with this beautiful Welcome Center. The tour is much the same as we remembered, but this time they did not take us into the hills to see other barrel warehouses. It's a great tour and it is FREE! (No Samples, Though!) We recommend it.

Where Jack Daniels is made
Every bottle of Jack Daniels is made in this distillery. The process is exactly the same as it has been for the last 150 years. No machines decide when its ready. This is solely the job of human tasters. The aging process takes between 4-6 years. The grading is determined by where the barrel is stored in the warehouse. The better quality is at the top.

Jack Daniels on the Rocks
This statue of Jack Daniels stands at the mouth of the cave where they get the spring water to make the whiskey. Jack was only 5'2". He died from an infection he got from kicking his safe. The story is that he came to work early, couldn't get the safe open so he kicked it, broke his toe, and got an infection which killed him. The moral, our guide said, is going to work early can kill you!

Lynnville, TN
We diverted to Lynnville, TN, described by our AAA books as an authentic old town with a historic soda fountain. It was...but isn't anymore. Joe got a couple of good pictures, though.
