Welcome to Hannibal
Last night we stayed at Mark Twain Cave RV Park in Hannibal, MO. The cave at this Park is the one Mark Twain describes in Tom Sawyer. We are getting better at finding RV parks. This one was very pretty with lots of amenities.

Mark Twain Statues
There is another statue of Mark Twain. It shows him in his early years and is actually the first time that a statue was made for a person famous in the field of literature.
I find this statue more interesting, as it depicts him in relation to the Mississippi.

Tom and Huck
Tom and Huck were the first fictional characters to be honored with a statue. Our tour guide said that when asked which is Tom and which is Huck, he responds that Huck is the one standing next to Tom!

Becky and Tom
Two young people came out in the heat dressed as Becky Thatcher and Tom Sawyer. They did a great job of entertaining the crowd and were very gracious to allow everyone to take pictures!

Samuel Langhorne Clemens' Boyhood Home
Apparently the sense of humor came from his mother's side. One of the stories from the tour was that a time in his childhood when Clemens got sick, he asked his mother if she was afraid he was going to die. She responded, "No, I was afraid you were going to live."
